Patient Research Request Inquiry

We support researchers whose research initiatives align with the mission statement of AMF: To mobilize a community for patient support and advocacy, as well as drive and support impactful research that translates into advances for patients with migraine and other disabling diseases that cause severe head pain.

KEY INITIATIVES:

At the present time, AMF has identified several areas that we believe are of paramount importance to our stakeholders.

These include:

  • Identifying and eliminating the impact of migraine in the workplace
  • Improving access to care
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
  • Reducing stigma
  • Pediatric and adolescent migraine
  • Biobehavioral interventions
  • Comparative effectiveness studies of migraine therapeutics

GUIDELINES:

Priority will be given to projects that have the potential to have a positive impact on patients quality of life and that may be used to inform medical decision making related to the diagnosis and treatment of migraine and other disabling diseases that cause severe head pain.

Preference will be given to surveys that will be used to gather meaningful insights from the patient community. These can include questions that would guide clinical trial endpoints, patient preferences, experiential queries, etc.

Surveys that are part of a trial sponsored by the NIH, PCORI, or other multi-source grant will be given preference.

Proof of IRB approval (or exemption) must be submitted with survey requests.

Funding sources (where applicable) must be clearly identified.

Researchers must submit a letter of inquiry online. There is no charge for submitting a letter of inquiry. If the letter of inquiry is accepted, there is a $100 application fee to submit a full proposal. For AHS members conducting research or projects on behalf of AHS, this fee will be waived.

REVIEW, APPROVAL and NOTIFICATION:

All requests will be reviewed by the AMF Chair who will have the option of acting upon it independently, refer it to the AMF Executive, or a designated subcommittee for review and decision.

Submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis and requesters will be notified of AMF’s decision through email.

*Please note this is an opportunity for researchers to tap in to our patient community for their research, not a funding opportunity.
